Still Water

Still Water

I saw this fresh water lily blossom as I was leaving the swamp one evening and returned the next morning, hoping for better light. Crouching very low, I was able to get the reflection of the petal tips and only realized later on, a small frog had joined the scene (far left). The water lilies’ broad pads provide shade and shelter for fish, frogs, turtles and more. Not yet assessed by the IUCN Red List or listed in the Catalogue of Life.
